Pie Chart Statements - Jim Noble
Every time I think about interesting ways to look Pie charts, I end up with a lesson on circle geometry! Making and Interpreting these is much more about geometry and proportional reasoning and makes me want to teach it in a number module as well or instead. An idea for an activity is to generate a pie chart (or pair of) and list a number of statements underneath at as conclusions. Ask students to say whether the Pie charts support the statement or not using proportional reasoning. See discussion tab for this idea.
